Mandatory evacuation order issued for some residents of St. Johns County

St. Johns County has issued a mandatory evacuation order for residents living in low-lying, flood-prone areas, on boats, in mobile homes, recreational vehicles and campers, effective at 5 p.m. today.

Also beginning today at 5. p.m., St. Johns County will open the following storm shelters:

Those seeking shelter are asked to bring personal identification and important papers and legal documents as well as sustenance supplies including sleeping bags, air mattresses, lawn chairs, chaise lounges, pillows, sheets, and blankets.

Evacuees are also being asked to bring a five-day supply of water, non-perishable foods, medications, and diapers.
